My two cents on parenting

You can always read the post here, but for more and updated posts, come join me at my new site!  Being a parent is the most rewarding, amazing journey you’ll ever take. However, it’s also the most demanding and hardest role to play. It doesn’t end, from the moment your child is born to your death bed, you’re a parent. Having been a parent for less than six years, I can only speak of the early years, and honestly I have no clue of what all my girls are yet to put me through – both in the positive and negative. I have amazing daughters. Not a day goes by that they wouldn’t baffle me in a way or another, bring a smile to my face, make me laugh out loud, but also make me raise my voice, momentarily hate myself for imagining a life without children or look at the time to see how much longer until they fall asleep and I get to escape reality for a second. I also often question if I’m a good mother, if I...

Cupcakes!

Delicious cupcakes in all sizes and flavors, they’re quick to make, you can freeze them for later, just perfect portion sized little cakes. And they are so versatile! Be it baking for an event or occasion or having fun decorating with the kids, cupcakes are always my first go to. My absolutely favorite part about cupcakes is however decorating them (even beats eating them!)  I tend to always have frosted cupcakes in the freezer, great for serving to unexpected guests or simply as dessert for my little ladies when I feel they deserve a special treat. I don’t intentionally prepare extras for the freezer, it’s more of always going overboard and making waaaay too many for every occasion. And I obviously always make new ones for any anticipated occasion, hence I end up with loads in the fre...

Quick and easy treats!

You can always read the post here, but for more and updated posts, come join me at my new site!  Keeping things simple is definitely not a norm for me. However, sometimes, if not more than often, keeping it simple is the best way to go! I made these adorable white chocolate eggs last Easter, and considering the season, they popped into mind again. Now I have to say this is definitely not an original idea by me, but I have no idea who to give the credit to for coming up with such a genius, quick and adorable treat. Preparing these white chocolate treats requires about 2 minutes and another 10 minutes in the fridge to settle prior serving! (Allowing them to set for a longer period in the cold, hours - overnight, is always better, but they will be good to eat in a short time also.) All you need is a microwave, parchment paper, a spoon, white chocolate and relatively large orange or yellow choc...

The magical yoga ball

You can always read the post here, but for more and updated posts, come join me at my new site!  One of my all-time favorite tips for new parents is: Get a Yoga ball! What most people don't realize, is that a yoga ball can make a huge difference in so many ways. Most people are familiar with it's obvious use as exercise equipment, but it is also incredibly useful for expecting mothers, getting back in to shape post-delivery, but also for soothing a restless baby! A yoga ball is also known as a stability ball, exercising ball or even birthing ball. Pregnancy can literally be a pain in the back, and sitting, bouncing or rocking on a yoga ball can help ease the pain. While expecting our first born, I religiously attended a pregnancy yoga class. We were taught that all circles are good for both mother and baby, i.e., moving in a circular motion for example while sitting on a yoga ball will help you relax...

My first blog post ever

THIS BLOG HAS MOVED TO  WWW.SHEROCKSABUN.COM    Hop on over! You can always read the post here, but for more and updated posts, come join me at my new site!  Hi! So this is it! I’ve contemplated on starting a blog for years, but never got around to actually doing it. Until today, I decided the time has come. If you’ve already taken a look at my introduction, you’ll know the basics about me, but here’s a bit more detail. I’m an unofficial single mother of three beautiful daughters. I say unofficial, as I am married, but my husband and I live on two separate continents – I live in Finland with our daughters and my husband lives in Thailand. We’re apart approximately ten months a year, so I know a thing or two about long-distance relationships and being a single mother. I first became a mother in 2012, and I consider myself extremely lucky to have such an incredible first-born. I had always hoped for twins, and to our great surprise, I ended up pregnant with ...
